Green tea or chinese tea is a type of tea made from leaves and buds of Camellia sinensis plant, what makes it diffrent from our black tea beside being slightly more antioxidant and containing less caffiene is the way its processed before it reaches our markets. Where its fresher and less exposed to oxidation which allows it to preserve its beautiful green color.
Green tea has increasingly become a popular drink worldwide because of it’s health benefits, which is owed to it’s chemical composition: proteins (15-20% ), amino acids (1-4% ),carbohydrates (5-7% ) , amd minerals and trace elements (5% dry weightsuch as calcium, magnesium, chromium, manganese, iron, copper, zinc.
There are many studies that supports using it in the treatment of metabolic syndrome ( obesity, type II diabetes) and cardiovascular risk factors due to it’s high concentration of ployphenols such as EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate).
Researchers found that those who consumed green tea at least three times a week were less likely to have a heart attack or stroke over the next seven years.
